What is return-to-duty testing?
Return-to-duty testing is a directly observed drug and/or alcohol test an employee must pass with a negative result before going back to safety-sensitive duties after a policy violation. For DOT-regulated employees, it follows an evaluation and treatment plan set by a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP).
How many follow-up tests are required after a return-to-duty test?
Under DOT rules, a minimum of six unannounced follow-up tests must be conducted in the first 12 months after the employee returns to duty. The SAP can direct additional testing for up to 60 months depending on the individual's situation.
Can you come to our workplace for return-to-duty and follow-up testing?
Yes. We offer mobile, on-site collection across Metro Atlanta, Buford, Gwinnett, and North Georgia, and testing is also available at our Buford facility. All specimens use strict chain of custody and are analyzed by SAMHSA-certified labs with Medical Review Officer (MRO) review.
Do you handle both DOT and non-DOT return-to-duty testing?
Yes. We support full DOT/FMCSA-compliant return-to-duty programs as well as non-DOT testing based on your company policy. We offer 5-panel and 10-panel options and can help you design a compliant follow-up schedule.
